Based in London, the talented Director of Photography, Melissa Byers, wanted a website to show off her portfolio. Melissa had been talking to a few agencies in London but after seeing our site and talking to us about her desired project, our attitude and passion made Melissa commission Alight with this rather technical site.
We were please that Melissa had high expectations for her site. Melissa, who worked on Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, wanted something exceptional and after our first meeting with her in London we knew exactly what to do.
The Brief
To design a logo and create a full flash site that would be exceptional and interesting. It must be very easy to navigate and bright. The video clips had to be high quality, fast to download and easy to use.
The Results | Branding
The branding, we started at the beginning, the logo felt a little out of date so we designed a fantastically simple and effective logo that pushed the URL into the mind, "Camerawoman Dot Com".
3D Flash Web Site Design & Development
We knew that Melissa liked a flash site that we had done in 3D for ADK Creative. SEO was not an issue for the site as Melissa was targeting and linking it to specialist groups. We agreed that a full flash site would be the most impactful.
Alight came up with several visuals as to how the site could look, navigate and move through transitions. The rounded edged cube was an immediate hit with Melissa, so we set about building the frame and transitions of the site in a 3D application and brought them into flash where we integrated it with the rest of the site and the video.
Flash Streaming Video
Some of the video was ready to use in a digital format, some needed converting and some of it needed editing, after this was completed, the video was then compressed for the web to balance with fast download speeds and high quality video replay.
We deployed the video using flash 8 streaming technologies which is far superior in both quality and speed than windows media or quicktime.

Melissa was so happy with the work that she the asked us to create an Interactive CD-ROM, along with all of her stationary.
Melissa has also referred Alight to her colleagues who all loved the Camerawoman Dot Com site. We are now in the process of developing plans for future web sites and graphic design projects.

Alight took on a real challenge with camerawoman.com. This entailed both the site design and construction of my website. Alight supplied me with a series of strong ideas that I could choose from and consulted me throughout the development.
