Paul Barshon, who within the world of motor bike photography needs no introduction. Paul works with global brands such as Yamaha and Ducatti and travels all over the world to shoot for them.

Paul, who is based in London, had spoken to a few London Agencies and had found some of them had an "attitude problem", "I spoke to one agency, told them who I was, what I do and who for, and they said well we are very expensive you know!"

Being a true professional photographer, Paul wanted a showcase for his work rather than a site to deliver him work. SEO was discussed but Paul decided it was not required therefore we agreed that a full flash site would definitely be the way to go.

The Brief

The imagery was the focus point, because of this there was to be no copy/text apart from contact details and the navigation.
Paul already had a site but wanted a complete re-design and wanted the new site to be "a lot slicker and cooler"
The site as agreed needed to be a full flash site.

The Results | Flash Web Site Design & Development

Paul had already seen a few flash sites that he liked, this gave Alight a good jumping off point. After showing Paul 3 sets of visuals, Paul, as we had hoped went with a design that concentrated soley on his imagery. Paul had stated that the site required no copy other than contact details and navigation.

Our design took this focus on imagery to the next level. We developed a fly zooming effect which introduced the site user to the different areas of Paul's Photography.

These areas were represented with the words move, speak, feel and travel and were placed within a navigation panel that would automatically show and hide itself depending on where the mouse was positioned, that way the navigation could completely disappear, allowing the user to concentrate fully on the imagery.

The background was also dynamic, changing its colour shade to support which ever image was displayed on screen, an added value feature that Paul was not expecting and was particularly impressed with.
